ATLANTA (June 3, 2010) – North Highland (www.northhighland.com) announced today that Matt Kern, principal at its Atlanta office and national lead of the firm’s Health Plan Practice, has been named to the board of directors of Theatrical Outfit, Atlanta’s third oldest professional theater company. In this role, Kern will join other Atlanta business leaders and luminaries in providing strategic guidance and oversight for the renowned group.

With headquarters in Atlanta, North Highland is a global consulting firm with 45 offices in the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

"One of North Highland’s guiding tenets is to create an exceptional quality of life for our consultants so they can in turn work more effectively at improving our clients’ enterprises," said Dan Reardon, North Highland’s CEO. "Our offices are located in the same cities as our clients, reducing travel and giving our people the ability to focus on family and get involved in their communities. We’re very supportive of Matt’s appointment to Theatrical Outfit’s board of directors, and we’re proud of his strong commitment to the arts in Atlanta."

An Atlanta native, Kern has twenty years of experience in selling, delivering and managing holistic, value-based solutions within the healthcare industry. He has served as strategic advisor to many of the Fortune 500 and consulted with all of the top health plans in the United States.

"As a longtime supporter of the performing arts, I’m very excited and honored to be a part of Theatrical Outfit’s board of directors," said Kern. "With its focus on the work of Southern writers and composers, and its emphasis on themes that are particularly resonant in our culture, Theatrical Outfit is an important part of our region’s heritage."

Theatrical Outfit is a not-for profit organization with the mission of entertaining, educating and enlivening audiences by producing classic and contemporary theater with an emphasis on work indigenous to the American South. In 2004, Theatrical Outfit moved into its home at 84 Luckie Street, The Balzer Theater at Herren’s. It is also the country’s first "green" theater, having attained silver certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) from the U.S. Green Building Council.
