In this unprecedented time, North Highlanders are reaching out to their local communities to lend a helping hand to those who need it most. From food banks to homeless shelters, making masks and more, North Highlanders across the country are coming together to help serve. Today, we’re spotlighting the firm’s Houston and Denver offices, who rallied together to provide meaningful donations to shelters and food banks their communities.
As COVID-19 hit, North Highland's Houston team members pulled together to support a Houston homeless shelter’s needs. Many kitchens that serve the homeless are closed and the need for snack bags and hygiene kits has soared. The team banded together, in a safe and socially distanced way, to provide over 600 snack bags and hygiene kits for our fellow citizens. All assembly was done from the safety of their own homes, with their families, and coordinated for delivery to the shelter. No one on the Houston team wanted to 'take credit,' so it was very difficult to get any pictures of the many people who were involved!
Meanwhile, members of the Denver office also rolled up their sleeves to help their community. The office hosted a team drive in support of the Food Bank of the Rockies, resulting in a total donation of $900 with 12 North Highlanders participating – some participants even donated twice! This donation will make possible all of the following:
- Providing 4,500 lbs. of food for the food bank
- Serving 3,500 nutritious meals to those in need
- Feeding a family of four in need for over 9 ½ months
- Feeding three hungry children for a year
