North Highland UK signs the Armed Forces Covenant

North Highland UK have proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant. The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

Through the Covenant, North Highland acknowledges the benefits that serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families bring to us and our clients’ businesses and the UK in general. We encourage employment applications from the Armed Forces community, including military spouses, and are committed to providing a supportive environment for those who may be transitioning from the military as well as throughout your career with us.

North Highland has a longstanding veterans’ network that supports those who have served and families of those who are in the armed forces within the firm. The signing of the Armed Forces Covenant represents the first step on the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) journey for North Highland. The ERS acknowledges employers that provide support to the UK Armed Forces community and Defence by going above and beyond their own Covenant pledges.

North Highland supports these principles through its Veterans’ Network employee resource group, Talent Acquisition Team, and Defence & Justice Practice by:

  • Acknowledging the value of service leavers’ skills and qualifications in our hiring and selection process.
  • Welcoming those who join us through our buddy scheme, where you get matched with someone who can help you learn the ropes and support you in getting settled.
  • Understanding the challenges that service leavers face when adjusting to civilian work.
  • Assisting our employees, where possible, who are part of the Reserve Forces and having a Flexible Working Policy for all our employees, which is useful for evening and weekend training commitments.
  • Promoting and supporting Armed Forces charities.
  • Maintaining our committed Veterans at North Highland network, to allow staff members with a Service background or connection to meet and support each other.
  • Ensuring a sense of team and belonging through our active social and sports calendar.
