In the spirit of our local community’s culture of care, the Minneapolis North Highland office and eight of its employee owners leapt head-first into an afternoon of mock job interviews with a group of individuals from a local organization called Twin Cities R!SE (TCR). TCR’s mission is to transform lives through meaningful employment by building careers and empowering lives. With TCR’s core values rooted in economic empowerment, this partnership was a wonderful match for our Day of Giving Back volunteer experience.
On April 18, the North Highland team mock interviewed individuals in two 30-minute sessions, conducting the interview for 20 minutes, then providing 10 minutes of feedback. The in-person feedback was rounded out by a hand-written interview feedback form, which individuals were able to take with them after the session. Throughout the afternoon, it was warming to see these individuals grow in their comfort doing interviews and confidence, brimming at the end of the experience. Our team was able to equip each individual with tips, techniques and constructive feedback to help them become a better interviewee during their next live job interview. At the end of the afternoon, the group closed out the event with a few spirited games of ping pong!
