North Highland’s London office held their annual Day of Giving Back (DOGB) event on April 5, with over 110 volunteers across three events focused specifically on economic empowerment. Within the office, 50 consultants split into teams to provide support for two London-based charities, Safer London and Inspire. Safer London prevents and addresses gang violence, vulnerability and sexual exploitation which are prevalent in low-income communities, and Inspire’s mission is to improve young people’s access to employment, raise achievement levels and enhance their future career prospects and lives. The teams came up with recommendations and solutions for some of the challenges facing both organizations, and provided input on how the charities should approach the creation of long-term plans and fundraising strategies.
Additionally, 50 North Highlanders travelled to two schools in East London to run professional skills workshops. The workshops included topics ranging from listening skills to behavioural science. The team earned fantastic feedback from the students, who really appreciated the opportunity to learn something new and work in teams!
For the third DOGB event, 12 North Highlanders spent an afternoon at Vauxhall Food Bank with the Trussell Trust, whose mission is to end hunger and poverty in the U.K. The team helped sort out stock donations and weighing more than 2.5 tonnes of food, which will help feed the homeless and those unable to feed themselves.
The office’s Wellness and Green teams also organized events to support healthy living and environoment-focused initiatives in various areas in the London community.
North Highland’s DOGB events bring the firm’s economic empowerment mission to life across 20 offices and 1,500 employees. Follow #DOGB2019 on Twitter to stay up-to-date with North Highland’s volunteer efforts as part of Day of Giving Back, and visit our Newsroom for photos and updates.
